Claringbullite - Sold

Claringbullite is a copper chloride fluoride hydroxide. Fejer et al. (1977) named the mineral in honor of Sir Frank Claringbull (1911-1990), former Keeper of Mineralogy at the British Museum (Natural History) in London. The discovery of claringbullite at Ojuela prompted new chemical analysis of type material which revealed a previously unrecognized and essential fluorine content (Rumsey et al. 2014).

This specimen consists of massive cuprite hosting a crystalline mass of claringbullite, 6 × 3 mm. Found 2009.
