Titantaramallite is a complex barium titanium borosilicate. Alfors & Pabst (1984) named titantaramellite for its titanium content and structural relationship to taramellite. The name taramellite honors Torquato Taramelli (1845-1922), Italian geologist.
Titantaramellite forms brown to black micro-crystals in a matrix of banded sanbornite and quartz. Sanbornite forms pearly white cleavages to 4 mm, while the quartz is fine-grained, more-transparent and light gray. Also present are red blebs of gillespite to 6 mm across. Collected by the writer in 1994.
