Agrellite is a sodium calcium silicate fluoride. Gittins et al. (1976) named the mineral in honor of Stuart Olof Agrell (1913-1996), eminent petrologist at Cambridge University, England. Agrellite from Kipawa fluoresces pink under ultraviolet light, with a stronger response under longwave radiation.
This specimen consists of compact fibrous agrellite, pale beige in color, intergrown with magenta eudialyte and green-black aegirine. This piece was part of the Charles Trantham (1936-2020) estate. A vintage David Shannon (1942-2004) label accompanies this specimen.
