Copper, the well known red metal, takes its named from the Latin cuprum, meaning from Cyprus in the Mediterranean.
This flattened crystal group is actually a spinel law twin, well known from this locality, but rather rare on a worldwide scale. No longer been found, this piece dates back to the 1980s.
