Olmsteadite is a niobium bearing phosphate mineral (Moore et al., 1976). The mineral name honors Milo Olmstead (1909-2005), a micro-mineral collector who called attention to the mineral. Olmsteadite here forms a red-brown crystal fragment, 1 mm across, embedded in crystalline siderite. A vintage green Cureton Mineral Company label accompanies the specimen. Type locality.
