Brewsterite-Sr is a hydrous strontium aluminosilciate, and a member of the zeolite group (Coombs et al., 1997). Brooke (1822) named the mineral in honor of Sir David Brewster (1781-1868), Scottish physicist, who studied the optical properties of minerals and the absorption spectra of gases.
This specimen consists of a rock fragment covered on two surfaces with brewsterite-Sr. The brewsterite-Sr forms a continuous crust of interlocking crystals to 2.5 mm.
