Pseudomalachite - Sold

Pseudomalachite is a hydrous copper phosphate, named for its resemblance to malachite. Professor Friedrich Hausmann (1782–1859) of the University of Göttingen (Germany) assigned this species its current name in his 1813 Handbuch der Mineralogie. This is a thick crust of pseudomalachite, showing a 3 x 3 cm crystalline surface. A dealer label from Gilbert Gauthier (1924–2006) accompanies this specimen.
