Geikelite - Sold

Geikelite is a magnesium titanium oxide mineral. Dick (1893) named the mineral after Sir Archibald Geikie (1835-1924), Scottish geologist and Director-General of the Geological Survey of Great Britain. It has the ilmenite crystal structure.

Geikelite here forms a crystalline mass, with some resinous fractures. The crystal form is indistinct and rounded, but the grain is likely 60% crystalline. In one notch of the grain sits a 2 mm red spinel crystal. 19.3 cts. Good for the species!
