Stibiotantalite - Sold

Stibiotantalite is an antimony tantalum oxide mineral. Stibiotantalite has orthorhombic symmetry, which is distinct from columbite-tantalite. Goyder (1893) named the mineral for its composition.

This is a cluster of thick tabular stibiotantalite crystals to 1.9 cm. The stibiotantalite is dark brown, with a thin alteration crust of pale brown fersmite. There is much chipping and chattering to the edges of this specimen, likely from years of storage in a drawer. This is a historic specimen, stored in a glass vial. An attached vintage (and yellowed) script label reads "Stibiotantalite, Mesa Grande".
