Murdochite - Sold

Murdochite is a copper lead oxide chloride mineral. Fahey (1955) named the mineral after Joseph Murdoch (1890-1973), professor at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Murdochite is one of a very limited number of Pb4+ minerals.

Murdochite here forms very minute cubic crystals on malachite fibers, on a limonite matrix. There is also some white calcite present. Not seen much on the local Arizona market.
