Enargite is a copper arsenic sulfide. Enargite takes its name from the Greek for distinct, in reference to its cleavage (Breithaupt & Plattner, 1850).

Enargite was an important ore mineral at Butte. This example features a 1.6 by 1.6 cm crystal clustered with smaller crystals. The crystals show microchipping to their edges. Nonetheless, a quality example from Butte. This piece dates to 1975, when acquired by Robert Chambers, of Tucson, Arizona. His collection was dispered in 2017.
