Vajdakite is a complex molybdenum arsenite. The mineral forms green needles with botryoidal blue-green scorodite. Ondruš et al. (2002) named the species after Josef Vajdak (1930- ), rare mineral collector and dealer of Massapequa, New York. A Josef Vadjak label accompanies this specimen, which features a dedication on the backside dating to the 2000 Tucson Show. This specimen formerly part of the Mel Gortatowski collection.
