Chloroxiphite in Mendipite - Sold

Chloroxiphite is a rare copper lead hydroxide chloride (Spencer & Mountain, 1923). The mineral name combines the Greek roots for green chloros and for blade xiphos, in allusion to the appearance of the mineral.

Chloroxiphite here forms blades to 1.5 cm long blade embedded in pale pink mendipite. There is some black sooty manganese oxide matrix also present. Formerly in the collection of Otto Ray of Salt Lake City, Utah. Ray's collection label ships with the specimen.
