Genthelvite is nominally a zinc beryllium silicate sulfide. The mineral name honors Frederick Genth (1820-1893), German-American mineralogist and collector. Glass et al. (1944) described genthelvite from West Cheyenne Canyon, Colorado, not far from the source of this specimen.
This is single crystal of red-brown genthelvite. The crystal faces are a bit curved, and wrap around approximately 50% of the crystal.
