Paradamite is a hydrous zinc arsenate, with the same chemical formula as adamite. For this reason, George Switzer combined the name adamite with "par", meaning near.
Paradamite forms sharp crystals to 5 mm, intergrown as a plate of crystals. There is a bit of gossan on the backside, but the bulk of the piece is paradamite. This came out of the collection of Robert Chambers, a Tucson based collector active in the 1970s and 1980s. Chambers acquired this piece in 1975; his label accompanies the specimen.
