Ilvaite

- First Soviet mine
- Dal'negorsk
- Primorskiy Kray
- Russia
- 4.6 by 1.6 by 1.2 cm – Miniature specimen (fits into a 5 cm cube)
A fine brilliant black crystal of ilvaite with excellent luster. Although not the largest ilvaite crystals known, the fine luster of these Russian examples has set a new standard for the mineral species. From a now closed mine, these specimens are quickly disappearing. An attractive example ith slightly divergent crystal growth.
