Rosasite is a hydrous copper zinc carbonate related to malachite (Girgsdies & Behrens, 2012). The mineral name comes from the type locality, the Rosas mine in Sardinia, Italy (Lovisato, 1908).

Rosasite forms velvety spheres, to 5 mm, mostly separated on matrix. This particular matrix is nearly black, providing an attractive contrast to the blue-green balls. Nice
