Anthoinite - Sold

Anthoinite is an aluminum tungsten oxide mineral, formed prinicipally by alteration of scheelite (Sahama, 1981). Varmaloff (1947) named the mineral in honor of Raymond Anthoine (1888-1971), a Belgian economic geologist. This is a heavy white stream worn nugget of anthoinite. SEM-EDS study of this specimen shows major Al and W, which confirms the identification.

This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. Merrill's collection card and label ship with the specimen.
