Carnotite (Friedel & Cumenge, 1899) and metatyuyamunite (Weeks & Thompson, 1954) are hydrated uranyl vanadate species. The metatyuyumanite here forms splays of bright orange bladed crystals. Carnotite forms the crude platy yellow crystals to 3 mm. This specimen emphasizes the color differences between these two species, typically seen elsewhere as yellow powders. Minor malachite is also present. This occurrence likely represents the best of species occurrences for both metatyuyamunite and carnotite.
