Calciohilairite is a calcium zirconium silicate, named for its relationship to hilairite (Boggs, 1988). The mineral has rhombohedral symmetry, and its crystal form consists of a hexagonal prism terminated with a shallow rhombohedron. There is a single cluster of intergrown 1 mm crystals present on the specimen. Calciohilairite is stark white in contrast to the pale cream matrix, which consists of mostly feldspar. This specimen comes in an aged thumbnail box, labeled with collection date of September 22, 1989.
