Woodhouseite is a member of the alunite group of minerals, specifically a calcium aluminum phosphate sulfate. Lemmon (1937) named the mineral in honor of Charles Douglas Woodhouse (1888-1975), professor at University of California at Santa Barbara, mineralogist and mineral collector. This specimen was collected in 2015 by Chris Lehmann, of Benton, California. This is a lustrous mass of intergrown crystals, with a maximal crystal size of 3 mm. The crystals are striated rhombohedra. Rich sample.
