McGovernite is a rare arsenite-arsenate silicate named after Franklin collector J.J. McGovern (?-1915) (Palache and Bauer, 1927). The mineral forms red-brown platy crystals with a high luster. Unlike the similar looking mineral kraisslite, mcgovernite forms radiating aggregates. A rich example, with plates to 3 mm. There are minor calcite, willemite and franklinite also present. One edge of the specimen appears to be a slickenslide surface.
