Plumbojarosite

Plumbojarosite is a lead iron sulfate hydroxide mineral. Hillebrand & Penfield (1902) named the mineral by combining the Latin root plumbo (meaning lead) with the mineral name jaorsite. This species is a member of a large group of sulfates and phosphates known as the alunite supergroup. On this specimen, brown microcrystalline plumbojarosite forms a cohesive mass, with admixed red minium.
