Henmilite - Sold

Henmilite is an exotic calcium copper borate mineral. The mineral formed by contact metamorphism with a Cu and B enriched fluids interacted with a pure white marble. Nakai et al. (1986) named the mineral in honor of father Kitinosuke Henmi and daughter Chiyoko Henmi, both mineralogists at Okayama University. Henmilite has triclinic symmetry, forming wedge shaped crystals. On this specimen, the crystals reach 4 mm. This is a rich example, with cobalt blue crystals on both sides of the recrystallized calcite. This specimen dates back to the great henmilite find of 2004.
