Jagoite, Melanotekite

Jagoite is a complex lead silicate mineral named in honor of John "Jack" Jago Trelawney (1909-2001) (Blix et al. 1957). Jack Jago was a mineral collector and important benefactor for the Smithsonian Institution and the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History. This is a specimen of brownish yellow-green platy crystals embedded in hematite ore. The jagoite bearing area measures 1.8 by 1.6 cm across, contacting a 1.2 cm mass of shiny black melanotekite.
