Poldervaartite - Sold

Poldervaartite is a rare calcium (and manganese) silicate. Dai et al. (1993) named the species after professor Arie Poldervaart (1918-1964) petrologist at Columbia University. While poldervaartite may seem available on the mineral market, very few specimens actually exist. Similar but chemically distinct specimens found after the original find are typically olmiite, a related but different species. This poldervaartite specimen is typical of the original find, a scattered cluster of tapering pale pink translucent crystals. Nice example of a rare mineral!
