Johninnesite is a rare hydrous silicate arsenate of sodium, magnesium and manganese. The mineral name honors mineral collector John Innes, formerly mineralogist at the Tsumeb and Kombat mines (Dunn et al. 1986). Crystal structure solution by Grice & Dunn (1994) later resolved a center of symmetry in the mineral and revised the chemical formula. This is a very rare mineral. This sample came from Bill Pinch, who purchased parts of the John Innes collection from Robert Sielecki.
