Mushistonite - Sold

Mushistonite is a tin copper hydroxide, a member of the perovskite group. Marshukova et al. (1984) named the mineral after its type locality, the Mushiston deposit in Tajikistan. At this locality in China, mushistonite forms by alteration of primary kësterite. The change retains the original form of the kësterite, forming pseudomorphs, here to 4 mm. Secondary green malachite needles adamantine cerussite grains form on top of the pseudomorphs. The matrix consists of quartz crystals and muscovite flakes, and there is accessory scheelite present.
