Norbergite - Sold

While not from the famous zinc orebody at Franklin, this specimen comes from a geologically related deposit. Norbergite is a hybrid of forsterite and brucite, a so-called humite group mineral. The mineral takes its name from its type locality at Norberg, Sweden (Geijer, 1926). Norbergite here forms honey colored grains (to 6 mm) in marble. Norbergite here fluoresces yellow under shortwave ultraviolet illumination.

This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. Merrill's collection card and label also ship with the specimen.
