Meyerhofferite after Inyoite - Sold

Meyerhofferite and inyoite are both calcium borates, with inyoite containing more water per formula unit. Schaller (1916) named meyerhofferite after Professor Wilhelm Meyerhoffer (1864-1906), who first synthesized the compound. Inyoite takes its name from Inyo County, California. This is the type locality for both species. Meyerhofferite forms silky replacements of blocky inyoite crystals to 1.8 by 0.8 cm. Photographs in the original paper clearly match the appearance of this specimen. Quite attractive!
