Adelite is a calcium magnesium arsenate hydorixde. The mineral here forms a replacement of the primary ore in between franklinite grains. In some places on this piece are small voids which show a few crystal faces. Adelite here has a pinkish brown color. Sjögren (1891) named the mineral after the Greek for indistinct, alluding to the appearance of the mineral. Dunn (1995) provides a few details of the occurrence at Sterling Hill.
