Sussexite is a manganese borate (Dunn, 1995) and zincite (Dunn, 1995) is a simple oxide of zinc. Together these minerals form these integrated masses locally known as calcozincite. The material is coarse fibrous but solid and compact, and has a striking orange color. The source of color for zincite seems to be a minor manganese content. This specimen comes with a yellowed paper label with no designation.
