Richterite - Sold

Richterite is a sodium calcium magnesium silicate, a member of the amphibole group. Breithaupt (1865) named the mineral after Theodor Richter (1824-1898), German mineralogist. This is a fine specimen with blocky crystals to 6 mm long. The color is an intense brownish yellow, and the crystals show some silkiness along their lengths.

This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. Merrill's collection card and label also ship with the specimen.
