Parsonsite is a lead uranyl phosphate mineral. Schoep (1923) named parsonsite in honor of Arthur Leonard Parsons (1873–1957), Professor of Mineralogy, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada. On this specimen, parsonsite forms a coating of brownish yellow (i.e. tan) needles on this specimen. A representative example.

This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. He obtained this piece in 1983 from Al McGuinness. Merrill's collection card and label also ship with the specimen.
