Masuyite - Sold

Vaes (1947) described masuyite as a hydrated lead uranium oxide. The mineral name honors Gustave Masuy (1905–1945), who studied Congolese minerals. This is a deep orange mass of crystalline masuyite, mounted in a standard 1" micromount box. There are two pockets lined with minute crystals. Difficult to obtain.

This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. He obtained this piece in 1983 from Al McGuinness. Merrill's collection card and label also ship with the specimen.
