- 4.9 by 3.3 by 2.7 cm – Miniature specimen (fits into a 5 cm cube)
Originally labeled paratacmite, this is actually a specimen of clino-atacamite. Recent study of paratacamite specimens has shown monoclinic symmetry of high copper examples (Jambor et al. 1996). Clinoatacamite forms pseudo-rhombohedral crystals to 3-4 mm in a generally mono-mineralic mass. This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited, obtained in 1951. This specimen also carries a former J.B. Nichols collection label.
