Trögerite - Sold

Trögerite is a very rare arsenate member of the autunite group containing the hydronium (H3O+) ion. Weisbach published a notice of the mineral in 1871, and later provided a full description (Weisbach, 1873). This specimen is a nearly black fluorite matrix, typical of the uranium veins at Wölsendorf, hosting scattered yellow-green crystals to perhaps 1 mm. This is a very rare mineral. This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. This specimen has older labels from Maucher and the Schneider collection. While the original labels include "Kupferuranit", this specimen does not match zeunerite or torbernite by Raman spectroscopy.
