Långbanite - Sold

The manganese skarn at Långban is one of the world's most complex and speciated mineral localities. An entire book covers the history, science, and exotic minerals of the locality. Flink (1888) first described the mineral, and for a century its definite composition remained a mystery until Moore et al. (1991), who provides a history of the mineral. Very rare and historic, this specimen features a long 6 mm prism of the mineral, tightly situated in a cavity. Ex Steve Pullman, Al McGuinness collection (ships with their labels). Obtained from Jack Jago in 1952.
