Hauerite is manganese sulfide with the crystal structure of pyrite (Haidinger, 1846). This is a choice loose octahedron, 12 mm on edge. The crystal is complete, but there is micro-chipping on some of the crystal edges. The triangular faces have a scalloped texture, which is typical of this mineral.
