Chalcosiderite - Sold

Chalcosiderite is a copper iron phodphate, named after its composition (Ullman, 1814). The mineral is triclinic, and has an isostructural relationship with turquoise. This is a fragment of quartz, iron stained, covered one both sides with dark green crystals, with some minor iron staining. The crystals probably are under a millimeter, and serrated. These serrations trap limonite staining, which has an interesting appearrance under magnification. This specimen comes from Ralph Merrill collection, proprietor of Minerals Unlimited. Purchase includes Merrill's catalog card (and label), accessioned in 1956. Also present is a label in German script.
