Spencerite - Sold

Spencerite is a rare hydrated zinc phosphate known from three world occurrences. The name honors L. J. Spencer, mineralogist at the British Museum, who described the rare phosphates at Broken Hill, Zambia (Walker, 1916). This is a mass of bladed spencerite showing pearly cleavage, with a crystalline surface. This specimen has a collection number from Michigan Tech University, but does not carry a label. There is some old paint on the specimen, and minor chipping to the crystal edges. This specimen likely rolled around in a drawer for many decades. Old material from the defunct type locality.
