Villiaumite - Sold

Villiaumite is a sodium fluoride mineral. Just like radiation causes a blue color in halite, it causes a pale red color in villiaumite. The mineral is water soluble, but stable. Normally found in cleavage masses, this is an unusual occurrence in Namibia where the mineral forms crystals in vesicles in matrix. The villiaumite crystals reach 3 mm on this specimen.
